The Malta International Contemporary Art Space (MICAS) is seeking applications from suitable candidates to perform duties of Senior Officer (Social Media & Digital Marketing) as cited below. This post is on a full-time basis and is subject to a probational period of twelve (12) months.

The Senior Officer (Social Media & Digital Marketing) reports to the Manager (Marketing & Communications) and the Chief Executive Officer, and will be required to post weekly on Facebook & Instagram, manage social media content to promote MICAS’ project and event and create & update the social media calendar.  The role is primarily hands-on and involves working as part of a team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Social Media – In charge of posting weekly updates on Facebook and Instagram.
    • Produces an analytics fortnightly report.
    • Posts occasionally on LinkedIn.
    • Creates a Twitter and TikTok account for MICAS.
    • Boosts posts according to the stipulated budget.
    • Updates the budget accordingly.
  • Discusses, plans, and creates engaging social media content to promote the MICAS project and events.
  • Creates and updates a social media calendar which is visible for the team on Google Drive.
  • Keeps abreast with new social media trends and platforms.
  • Contributes to the communications and marketing planning, calendar, and strategy.
  • Documents and follows up on a weekly basis the progress of the MICAS project, via videography and imagery of MICAS’s photographer and videographer.
    • Follows up the hours contributed by the photographer and videographer.
    • Follows up on invoicing and payment to the photographer and videographer.
    • Ensures on a monthly basis that MICAS has images of the building and its onsite exhibitions.
    • Ensures that the photographer and videographer are available for any new milestones.
  • Delivers exceptional support to MICAS’s social media communities across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube by moderating, responding, escalating and providing timely supportive feedback.
  • Plans, creates, and delivers highly engaging, creative, and audience-focused social media content according to brand guidelines and wider organisational ambitions and objectives.
  • Monitors and maintains the cross-team digital communications planner and leads weekly planning and insight meetings.
  • Contributes to the ongoing measurement and evaluation of MICAS’s social media activity and works on new ways to demonstrate impact.
  • Delivers internal communications to MICAS’s staff and volunteers to amplify social media activity.
  • Works with superiors to keep social media policy, procedures, and guidelines up to date and ensures they are communicated effectively.
  • Drives traffic to MICAS’s social media and website pages.
  • Produces a website analytics fortnightly report.
  • Attends training as directed.
  • Follows up on invoices to suppliers that are assigned to them.
  • Develops titles for blogs and publishes one post monthly.
  • Uses blogs as newsletters to be issued on a monthly basis.
  • Follows up on articles to be ready for publications and magazines.
  • Produces fortnightly reports for social media.
    • Boosts posts according to the stipulated budget.
    • Updates the budget accordingly.
    • Follows up on the continuous updates of imagery from the videographer and photographer.
    • Ensures that the photographer and videographer are available for any new milestones.
  • Any other tasks which can be assigned by the Manager (Communications & Marketing and the Chief Executive Officer to support the events and any other projects organised by MICAS.

Skills and Requirements

A recognised Bachelor’s degree at MQF Level 6 (with a minimum of 180 ECTS/ECVET credits, or equivalent) in Communications, Digital Marketing, Management, Procurement, Public Policy, Law or a comparable professional qualification, together with at least one (1) year of relevant work experience.

  • Interested/engaged within contemporary art or culture in general.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Working knowledge of social media marketing.
  • Knowledge of search engine optimisation techniques.
  • Knowledge of public procurement regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, juggling multiple projects.
  • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow orders and work in a coordinated environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
  • Proven experience of delivering successful integrated digital marketing.
  • Proficient in SEO/SEM.
  • Up to date with the latest trends and best practices in online marketing and measurement.
  • Proficient in Mailchimp/email marketing.
  • Experience in creating social media content which is engaging and impactful shaped by Insight (video, images, blog posts, storytelling, live video).
  • Strong community management experience across all major social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to take complex information and turn it into accessible communication for the wider public.
  • A solid understanding of the social media landscape, emerging channels and trends.
  • Mobile Marketing – includes app-based, in-game, location-based and SMS marketing.
  • Must be proficient in both Maltese and English.

The post of Senior Officer (Social Media & Digital Marketing) carries a salary of €26,150 per annum in line with Grade 6 of the Public Cultural Organisations Structure, with annual increments of €447 up to a maximum of €28,832 (as at 2025).

Qualifications and experience claimed must be supported by certificates and/or testimonials, copies of which should be attached to the application together with a detailed Curriculum Vitae, covering letter and where applicable a Service and Leave Form (GP7) addressed to the Human Resources Manager by email on people@micas.art by not later than Monday, 15th September 2025 at 12:00 hrs (CET).

Original certificates and/or testimonials must be presented for verification at the interview.

Public sector employees must provide records of paid leave, unpaid leave, and sick leave for the past four (4) years, together with documentation of any disciplinary actions taken during that period. If no such record is submitted, it will be assumed that no disciplinary action has ever been taken.
