Senior Officer (Social Media & Digital Marketing)

Expression of Interest

MICAS is looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Officer (Social Media and Digital Marketing) to work closely to and realise the MICAS vision and mission.

 

Background

MICAS is intended to strengthen Malta’s cultural infrastructure by providing a platform for contemporary art and internationalisation. With its launch, Malta is about to take a great step forward and become a proactive player in the contemporary art world.

Scheduled to open in Autumn 2024, MICAS will not only become a showcase for local contemporary artists but will also engage with international institutions to present ground-breaking works by acclaimed artists from all over the world.

MICAS aims to positively energise Malta’s cultural ecology and impact that of the Euro-Mediterranean region it inhabits. The MICAS mission is to be an advocate of contemporary art by raising public awareness to the significance of the visual arts in contemporary life, and by bringing to the forefront the way art and artists help mediate and interpret the world we live in.

MICAS is a Government of Malta infrastructural legacy project for the Culture and the Arts sector.

 

Services Needed

Reporting to the Manager (Communications and Marketing) and Chairperson, the Senior Officer (Social Media and Digital Marketing) will be required to post weekly on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, manage social media content to promote the MICAS project and events, and create and update the social media calendar. The role is primarily hands-on and involves working as part of a team.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Social Media – In charge of posting weekly updates on Facebook and Instagram.
    • Produces an analytics fortnightly report.
    • Posts occasionally on LinkedIn.
    • Creates a Twitter and TikTok accounts for MICAS.
    • Boosts posts according to the stipulated budget
    • Updates the budget accordingly.
  • Discusses, plans, and creates engaging social media content to promote the MICAS project and events.
  • Creates and updates a social media calendar which is visible for all the team on Google Drive.
  • Keeps abreast with new social media trends and platforms.
  • Contributes to the communications and marketing planning, calendar, and strategy.
  • Documents and follows up on a weekly basis the progress of the MICAS project, via videography and imagery of MICAS’ photographer and videographer.
    • Follows up the hours the photographer and videographer have contributed.
    • Follows up on invoicing and payment to the photographer and videographer.
    • Ensures that MICAS has images of the building, and onsite exhibitions on a monthly basis.
    • Ensures that the photographer and videographer are available for any new milestones.
  • Provides an exceptional level of support to MICAS’ social media communities across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube by moderating, responding to/and escalating messages and feedback in a timely and supportive manner.
  • Plans, creates, and delivers highly engaging, creative, and audience-focused social media content according to brand guidelines and wider organisational ambitions and objectives.
  • Monitors and maintains the cross-team digital communications planner and leads weekly planning and insight meetings.
  • Contributes to the ongoing measurement and evaluation of MICAS’ social media activity and works on new ways to demonstrate impact.
  • Delivers internal communications to MICAS’ staff and volunteers to amplify social media activity.
  • Works with superiors to keep social media policy, procedures, and guidelines up to date and ensures they are communicated effectively.
  • Drives traffic to MICAS’ social media and website pages.
  • Produces a website analytics fortnightly report.
  • Attends training as directed.
  • Follows up on invoices to suppliers that are assigned to him/her.
  • Creates titles for blogs and follows up on these to post one per month.
  • Uses blogs as newsletters to be issued on a monthly basis.
  • Follows up on articles to be ready for publications and magazines.
  • Produces fortnightly reports for social media.
    • Boosts posts according to the stipulated budget
    • Updates the budget accordingly.
    • Follows up on the continuous updates of imagery from the videographer and photographer.
    • Ensures that the photographer and videographer are available for any new milestones.
  • Any other tasks which can be assigned by the Manager (Communications & Marketing) and the Chairperson to support the events and any other projects organised by MICAS.

 

Working hours

Normal office hours in the lead up to an event, but will be required to work extra hours, including evenings and weekends, closer to the event.

 

Skills and Requirements

By the closing time and date of this expression of interest, applicants must have:

  • An MQF Level 6 in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Mass Communication or Arts plus three (3) years relative work experience in managing social media platforms.

or

  • An MQF Level 5 in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Public Relations, Mass Communication or Arts plus five (5) years relative work experience in managing social media platforms.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Knowledge of search engines’ optimisation techniques.
  • Knowledge of public procurement regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, juggling multiple projects.
  • Well-developed interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow orders and work in a coordinated environment.
  • Fluency in both Maltese and English. 

 

Contract for Service Terms

Payment: Monthly retainer of €2,500 NET.

Contract: This is a two (2) year ‘Contract for Service’ that has the possibility of being renewed for another one (1) year.

Working Hours: The work schedule is generally forty (40) hours per week. A flexible work schedule or additional work hours may be necessary, to meet the requirements of this job position, which could encompass evening hours and weekend work. The responsibilities and required interactions of this position are not conducive to remote work.

Eligible applicants will be requested to attend for an interview to assess their suitability for these duties.
