Artists and their Archives is a presentation by Edith Devaney, Contemporary Curator and Head of the Summer Exhibition, Royal Academy of Arts, London. Edith Devaney discusses the importance of artists’ personal archives; their recorded interviews and correspondence; whether artists themselves make good archivists, along with related issues. She shares her own experience as a researcher and curator at the Royal Academy working with contemporary artists such as Jasper Johns, David Hockney and Phyllida Barlow and researching the personal archives of abstract expressionist pioneer Arshile Gorky, amongst others.
The Artists and their Archives art talk was a part event of the MICAS Summer Celebration collaboration with the Valletta Cultural Agency and supported by Heritage Malta and Spazju Kreattiv.
